Model 1913 35 Auto Loading

As some might remember I have come into possession of a Model 1913 35 S&W semi auto I took it to the range to test fire it with 32acp There might lay the issue
Seems like the slide will not cock back far enough to allow the round to chamber?
Since I don't have any book or instructions I was wondering if anyone here had information on the loading process
I know I must be doing something wrong since it appears the silde does not go back far enough to chamber the round What am I doing wrong?
Does anyone know the exact loading sequence in instructions

Are you depressing the breech block (slide) button on the left side to pull the breech block back to chamber the round? Without using the button very few can pull the breech block back to load a round. Very heavy recoil spring. Also depress the button when closing the breech.
