The 1987 production of the model 19 with fixed sights, in 4 inch and 2.5 inch, for Peru, or M19P as I've seen it referred to.

I see a discrepancy in the numbers produced with the numbers delivered overseas and those distributed in the US. Anyone know how many are reported to be in the US? Was this a 19-5 or a 19-6? Was it chambered for .357 or 38 special?

Anyone here own one? Anyone seen one of these? Regards 18DAI

Ah, the 19-P...

I see discrepancies in the numbers too.
I have heard there were 3300 but also 3826 made. Also heard that about 1500 went to Peru as planned, another 1200 plus went to GMBH in Germany, and that about 480 were sold domestically but I have also heard it was only 300.
They were reportedly in the AWD, AWE, AWF ranges but I have also seen them in the AVP and AWZ ranges.

They were -5s in that they didn't have the new yoke, yoke screw, and floating hand. They were chambered in .357 Magnum.

Seen one. Almost had one (). Want one!

Information on these are truly hard to come by. It would be interesting if this could become "the" model 19-P thread with the requisite pics. ;)

At least I can help with the pics...

This one was German marked, so it was exported/re-imported sometime in it's lifetime.
Apologize for the Spegels, these guns came with a quality set of Pachmeyer grips.

Serial number was AWF02xx.... sorry sold it 9 years back and can't find a copy of the letter I had on it.

Very neat pics, now for the 3"... ;)

Not sure there was one.....

While there was a 3" fixed sight M19 made for export (France), it was not marked as a Mod. 19P to my knowledge........

The export 3" M19's were serial numbered in the M&P series (believe they were "D" serial prefixed), not in the adjustable sight S/N sequence (i.e, "K" prefix)

Thanks all!! Beautiful pictures!! :)

I will add the 4 inch to my "grail gun" lust....er..list. ;)

I hold out no hope of ever coming into contact with the 2.5" variant. I'm just grateful to have gotten to see a picture of one! Regards 18DAI

Hi there, I can add the following picture and markings on a German delivered one, in the serial range AWE
You can see the distributors name "Wischo" on the barrel and the other proofs.
Can anyone comment on the other marks (area, city etc) as I'm not well versed in German proofs?

The Grips I got it with were scary, I will post them for someone to ID but I put on standard rounded bottom ones.

This photo was posted by another forum member some time ago. So they do exist. It was my understanding that a small number were produced for the C.B.N.

So I must not be understanding something. The guns in the photos look awfully much like Model 65s. I know Smith will play with model numbers when it wants to but this doesn't make sense.

Near to, but more like Model 13s with a shrouded ejector.

These are blue, not stainless, and they have the ejector rod shroud. The best analogy would be a 65 Ladysmith in varying barrel lengths, if that makes sense.

I have both length barrel models, 2 1/2 and 4 inch. They were shipped to me direct from the factory {courtesy of the sales mgr. that handled foreign sales} . As said above, both came with rubber stocks and if memory serves ,the snub had a yellow insert in the front sight running front to back. If any one has specific questions about them ,I will get into the vault and dig them out tonight and try to answer if I can. As far as why they sent fixed sight Model 19P's instead of Model 13's, I asked the same question and was told by the sales mgr. that the Commander of the police unit said that " his men liked to use the revolvers as clubs sometimes and he didn't want the ejector rods to get bent". Any thing that I can answer about the ones I have ,I will try to do later tonight. All my best, Joe.

I have a question:

WHERE'S THE PICS, YOU LUCKY DOG?

;)

Hapworth, I am photo challenged, however my friend and photo expert, SG-688 said he would post pictures of my revolvers on this thread a little later when he got home. All my best, Joe.
