This image is one of my Model 22-4s, 4" barrel. See the twin turn lines on the cylinder? Any idea why?

Thank you.

Kevin

(18 January edit to add) Including a better photograph, a closeup of the area mentioned.

Out of town for the week, will check it when we are reunited.

The lower rear frame window area does look to be rather "lumpy".
Strange place for lead build up, so????

There is a shiny wear spot on the frame that corresponds with the rear drag line on the cylinder. The yoke is coming open too far, allowing the cylinder to drag on the frame as it rotates when open.

I think that we have a winner. I totally missed that in the photos.

Might be a defect in the frame...from the factory? or nicked somehow?

That is just about the location of the trigger stud, Maybe it is pressed out to far or some how when sideplate was screwed down it pressed out the stud. Maybe something stuck in trigger stud hole in side plate.

But, when I took the picture and blew it way up it sure looks like there is something sticking out of frame just in front of the frame lug

Thank you all. Funny, I have had the revolver for about a dozen years or a bit more and never saw that spot! I will look at it when I get home. I will also check the Thunder Ranch version.

Just looked at my nickel 22-4 and while it is faint, I too have that line. I cannot see my cylinder touching anything.

Curiouser and curiouser! I wonder if other revolvers of this model exhibit this mark?

I have two of the 22-4's and are not wearing in that way. I would like to see more pictures . The regular drag line on the cylinder looks weird also . Maybe the top of the cylinder stop is rough ?

Looks to me like when the cylinder is swung open it could be dragging on either of the two spots indicated by the yellow arrows as you rotate the cylinder to load it

Edited my post to correct model number. It is a 22-4. Slowly open and close my cylinder looking through to light I don't see any contact. I'm at a loss.

Dan,

There are two lines on the OP's revolver. One is normal. It's from the cylinder stop, and appears around the circumference of the cylinder directly over the cylinder stop slots.

The line furthest back on the cylinder is not normal, it's being caused by from some kind of "abnormal" high spot on the frame. The cylinder is rubbing on this raised area when it is rotating after being opened.
