If you're having difficulty finding a ship date for N847658, I would estimate late 1980 - early 1981. I know N716536 shipped in December 1980.

A Model 25-2 with that serial number would have shipped in 1981 and have a six inch barrel and a mahogany presentation case. Not sure what else you would want to know. More specifics will require you to obtain a letter of authenticity from the S&W Historical Foundation.
