I just purchase a Model 27-2 that I believe was made in 1977. The gun came with the presentation case, cleaning tools and all the paperwork. I did not find the screwdriver that came with several of my other 197x N frame guns. When did the inclusion of the screwdriver, for rear adjusting as I am told, stop or was I just shorted the screwdriver.
Yes, I have mail for the factory letter of the gun's production history.

According to the SCSW 3rd edition, aluminum SAT’s were included until 1988, so your 1977 estimate seems to be well within the timeframe.

Although it looks like a screwdriver and can be used as a screwdriver, it's actually called a Sight Adjustment Tool (SAT; for adjusting the windage and elevation of the rear sight). The previous owner definitely appropriated (or lost) the SAT, because they were included in the mahogany presentation case along with the bore mop, bronze brush, and cleaning rod. There are a great many Model 27 and N-frame fans here on the Forum, so if you could post a couple of pictures it would be greatly appreciated. You didn't mention the barrel length of your 27-2...3-1/2", 4", 5", 6", 8-3/8"? Congratulations on your acquisition, and enjoy!

Hawg Rider - Thanks for the picture.
I start looking for the screwdriver/SAT at the next local gun show, which is in early Jan, or ebay.

Yes, technically, the nomenclature identifies the SAT as a sight adjustment tool.

However, it is a screw, when driven, that moves the rear slight slide to adjust for windage.
