Hello S&W fans,
Just acquired this model 27-2, 357 Magnum, serial # N333xx.
Guy who had it bought it new back in the 80's, fired it a couple of times and it hasn't seen the light of day till now.
He said he had no use for it and asked me if I wanted to buy it.
I suppose I got a pretty good deal, but before I disclose what I paid for it, I would like to know from the experts what it might be worth.
To my untrained eye, it seems to be in much better than 90-95% condition, the stocks have some scratches and scuffs, overall the bluing is in very good condition with a few small spots where the bluing has been "chipped", along with long term wear from sitting in a Bianchi holster for about 30+ years.

I also noticed that the trigger is jeweled and has a wide serrated shoe.

It also has the adjustable rear sight.

The action timing and lock-up seem to be in perfect working order.

Other than needing a real good cleaning, the bore and chambers are in excellent, mirror bright condition

Here are a few pics...

I would appreciate any information that could be provided along with an approximation of its value.

Thank you all for your time.

Yeah that front sight looks like an attempt to "convert," if you will, a Patridge-style sight to a ramp.

A very good-looking sixgun you have there!

Looks like a standard 6" M27-2 with the trigger jeweled (they did not come that way) and the shoe added. Also, the Patridge front sight has been modified with a red plastic filler inset into the area between the face and the top of the ramp. I have not seen that done before. Probably glued in place.

it would appear that this one has been fired more than a "few times"the grips and finish both have a fair amount of wear...at least from what i can see in the pics...this would bring it into whats termed "shooter grade"i agree the sight looks reworked and the jeweled trigger isn't going to add value....
around here that would be about a $500-$550 gun .....
it will be an excellent shooter for you...congrats on your find!

Thanks for the information.
I really appreciate all of you taking the time to check it out.
I am very pleased with this piece and even more so, now that I know I paid a good price for it.
As Maxwell Smart used to say, "Would you believe"...I only handed over 250.:)
Can't wait to get it out on the range...
Have a great upcoming weekend, y'all:D

Any good condition N-frame for less then 400 is a steal.
The 27-2 in my opinion being the finest revolver Smith ever made.
I have a hard time putting mine down. :D
At that price you should really enjoy your gun.

$250.00 !!! good deal, around here $500.00 for condition its in,I recently sold one just like it 79-80 production, mint!! In the wood box for $875.00

Hello,
Just wanted to drop by and again thank everyone for the great information provided and let you know that this gun is an awesome shooter!
Took it to the range and ran a bunch of my reloads in both .38spl. and .357, along with some Winchester PDXi and this thing shoots...
Very pleased with this acquisition.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
Gus

Saw the same model at a gunshow a few weeks ago for $625, advertised as mint, with small scratches al around the rear of the cylinder (mint?). Did have TH, TT, and TS but thought it a bit high. For $250 you got better than a good deal, a LOT better.

Interesting. You had me going for a minute.

I too, have a 333 serial number, but yours is 33,3xx and mine is 333,xxx; a huge difference! :D

The jeweling is also present on my hammer and trigger. This must have been popular with new owners to dress up those rather large, flat, bland surface areas.
