Model 27 no dash

Letter arrived yesterday confirming the red ramp as factory plus the target trigger and hammer. And factory walnut targets. The ramp is secured with a non flush pin. Shipped on 10 August 1960 Carlisle Hardware Springfield Ma. Did't go far from home.

I'm guessing it was all a special order. I have been curious about the occasional 6.5" made side by side with the regular 6" guns. Were they all special order or did S&W just make one every once in a while and send it out? Apparently there where guys who liked the extra 1/2" of barrel.
