My model 3 American resting in its new case. Come to think of it, it’s been resting for about 130 years.

I like your American.
Usually, when things are in a "case" like that, They are NOT resting

I might try to shoot it, but I’ve never been able to find ammo for it. A gunsmith told me once that it was in perfect shootable condition. I’d still be a little nervous though.

I reloaded and shot my Model 3 revolvers years ago, but do not believe the brass is available today. Buffalo Arms sells the heeled bullets today. There seems that the only one currently available brass case can be used today, 41 Magnum brass. I recall trying to downsize 44 Russian brass, but the base could not be sized from .457" all the way down to the rim so the brass would not chamber fully. A good video is available from MidwayUSA. I also don't think that anyone is manufacturing this caliber for sale today.

I’ve heard there are people that have used 41 mag casings to make 44 American, but I don’t reload, and I’ve never seen anyone selling any. I would love to just have a dozen of them. I asked my local gun shop, and they wouldn’t do it.

Sent you a PM with a possible solution. Hope it is helpful.
