I recently picked up this like new M36 (no dash) from my LGS. I wasn't really looking for one, but once I held it and took note of it's amazing condition, my gun pusher could see I liked it. He had $449.00 on it and offered it to me for $400. OTD.
It is in absolutely mint condition with a barely visible turn line . It also has matching serial numbers on frame and grips (no box). I don't see many classic blued S&W's in this condition very often, so I made it mine.
I was so enamored by its deep bluing and flawless finish that I didn't even notice it had a square butt. My other 2 j-frame snubbies both have round butts, but now I think I like the way the square butt feels better.
It's also interesting how S&W is selling their new "Classics" for almost double of what I paid for the real thing! These older, original S&W's really are a bargain right now and I'm afraid we may soon be looking back and calling these "the good ole' days".
I am a little more disciplined when it comes to heavily used guns in fair to average condition, but when I come across a mint example of a classic like this, resistance is futile.
