Finally found a Model 36 in better than good condition at a good price so I took it home.

I realize these are not too collectable... but it is an American classic and I have always wanted one. I think it was made in about 1965 or there abouts, but am not too sure. Thanks for looking. :)

With that cylinder release, it would be at least 1966, the year the flat latch went away. What is the serial number?

Nice looking revolver!

Nice looking revolver!

Forgot to include the serial number. 503XXX.

Ah , the Chief's Special - the quintessential snub nose revolver!

Very nice specimen. Congratulations.

353xxx shipped in September, 1964, so your is probably sometime in '66. With the diamond stocks, it is likely before '68, so there's your bracket.

That is awesome. Thank you.

Very nice!!! Another Chief Special fan here. "not too collectable" does not compute well for me in this case.

Enjoy!!!

Just got myself yesterday a silver Chief Special brother of the about same era (69?)

Laying down on the user manual paper that came with it:

She's a beauty! I have a circa 1970 chief's special. I'd love to get another one in stainless like yours one day.

Congratulations. Nice looking gun.

Just picked up a no dash with an unpinned barrel and a 3 letter serial number prefix. Someone had a bad day at the factory.

I just meant compared to some of the rarer and less produced models. Really nice gun you have as well. :)

I feel like every shooting enthusiast ought to have at least one good Chief's Special. I have a fairly early "Baby Chief" and a stainless Model 60-4 and wouldn't want to give up either one. Congratulations on finding what I am sure will be a very good companion for any occasion where you want a little something available "just in case."
