I shoot a 1974 Model 41 with a Clark barrell and Ultradot in Bullseye competition. I love this gun and am shooting it very well as a relative beginner. Over the last month or so the trigger is getting a little inconsistent. The roll goes from almost non-existent to much longer than when I got the gun. The pull weight is getting variable as well. I take the barrel off and clean the gun every week but I have never cleaned the trigger/hammer/sear.

Do I just need to break down the gun more for cleaning or does this problem need a gunsmith?

Thanks

I am familiar with that pull weight adjustment, thank you. The issue is that the pull has become inconsistent. What is the fix for that problem?

I have a 41 from the late 60's that gave me the classic trouble with jammed empty cases. No amount of cleaning the slide or barrel fixed the trouble. When I drenched the frame and it's innards with Kroil, then scrubbed with a toothbrush a few times it healed itself. I like Kroil because it takes the gunk out, but doesn't leave the metal devoid of hydrocarbons.
