I have a satin nickle 469 that I bought new back in the day. I haven't shot it much since then, but am getting interested in shooting again. Somehow, I've lost the paperwork that came with it, and would like to strip it down for a proper cleaning and get to know it session.
Search hasn't gotten me any info on it, but I may just not be using the right method?
Any info would be appreciated..

Are you sure it is satin nickel? Could it be a 669? Some were made for Ashland in nickel, just curious.

Nope, its a 469. Looks like satin nickle to me, but I could be wrong. The dealer said it was a limited edition when I bought it. Serial no TAB 8388
I suppose this makes it *extremely* valuable.. :D:D if true?

It has the correct serial number prefix for a factory nickel Ashland limited edition. Not common, but not extremely valuable, maybe a premium of about a hundred bucks over a standard 469 in like condition...if you have the box, it will have an orange or red sticker affixed next to the label that says it's an Ashland pistol...

If I had the box, I'd have the paperwork. :D We moved in 97, and some things have apparently fallen into another dimension in space/time..<shrug> ;)
I loaded up a bunch of 115 FMJs last night to see how it shoots.
So.. ballpark figure.. $400-500 retail?

Yep, you're right in the ballpark.

I have a Model 469, and when I got it I wanted to tear it down and replace the springs (just because). I gotta tell you, it was quite the ordeal! Granted, I am not a gunsmith, and the youtube videos that I followed weren't as detailed as I would have liked. That being said, my advise is to go really slow and record (video, pictures) the teardown in detail - it will greatly assist you in re-assembly.
As long as you're going to tear it down, one modification that I performed (and I highly recommend) was replacing the original hammer with one from a 3rd generation pistol (6906) to eliminate the half-cock notch. It makes the trigger pull much smoother, and the half-cock is redundant and unnecessary on the 469.

Field strip for cleaning is pretty much the same as any other second or third generation pistol, except that the 469 does not have a separate barrel bushing as did the 459, if memory serves correctly. It has been a really long time.

I do not recommend that you take it further down than field strip for cleaning.

Well, I put 50 rounds through it today, and liked it better than I expected. A good cleaning and lube considerably helped the feel of the trigger. It's.. uh.. ok, considering what the gun is made for. It's not a target pistol for heavinsake..:)
Functions very well. That's a good thing. Initially shot 2" low and right. Bumped the rear sight to center it. Maybe a little hotter load will bring up the point of impact. I'll add maybe .2 grains and try again. :D
Fun.. fun..

The price on a 469 is about $300 plus or minus. I suppose as that is nickel satin it would get a premium but only to SW nuts like us. I bought a 669 for $350 LNIB last year and a 469 for $275. Both at a local LGS.
Very nice 469!! I just don't want to pump you up too high on value.
The Ashland run will help with sale price if you want to sell...but (being redundant) only to SW collectors/aficionados/accumulators who know its history.

Oh, price doesn't matter. It's not like I'm going to sell it or anything.. Thanks!
I went to the big spring gun show in Indy this month, but never saw asking prices anywhere near that low.
It's been 25 years since I priced anything involved with shooting sports. Imagine the sticker shock when I saw the price of bullets, powder, etc.
I still have lots of 22LR from back in the day.. I'm RICH! Rich, I tell ya..:D
