Model 48 with 22LR cylinder

just recieved a Model 48 6 in barrel TT TH TS
bought on Gunbroker bought as a companian to my pre 17
its a model 48 no dash 4 screw
now it has a 22LR cylinder 22RFM will not fit
serial # is K 367328
I have contacted the seller and he is being real good with me
I have sent it back and he will have the cylinder bored for 22RFM
The frame # and the number on the back of the injector match
just looking for imput wondering what to do

I have a Model 48 with the optional 22 LR cylinder. I think the original mag cylinder for yours is somewhere. Too bad it got separated.

Before having the .22LR cylinder modified, look around for a magnum cylinder and have it fitted.

As stated the original 22mag cyl is probably missing. You probably have the 22LR cylinder that came with it. You paid for and bought a model 48 with the expectation that it's a 22 mag. I would return gun for refund and buy a different model 48. They are way too common to start altering and modifying.

Who is paying for all the extra work and ALL the shipping, through FFLS, on this gun? You then end up with a 22RFM with a cylinder that is not original to the gun! I would get my money back and walk away from this transaction!

There was no need to send the gun to have cylinder reamed. justy need cylinder and extractor. What I would do depends a lot on what I paid. If I had paid close to top dollar I would want a full refund. If it was a sweet deal and I was looking for a shooter, I would have rented a 22 mag reamer and bought a can of brake cleaner and some light weight oil or shopped around for a 22 mag cylinder. Ebay has one for about $170. By the time you rent a reamer pay to ship it back and forth, buy supplies your almost 1/2 way to the cost of the cylinder

You probably want to keep the gun It is a 2nd month production gun and may be a little collectible. Mine is just a few numbers off from yours. Big Larry

I presume you weren't expecting 2 cyls and didn't pay a 2 cyl model 48 price. But you did pay for a 48 with the proper 22 MRF cyl. So ask the seller for a refund enough to buy a 22 Mag cyl and he'll save return shipping on the gun and won't have to sell it again for a lower price since it has the wrong cylinder.

And you end up with a mod 48 with two cyls.

Just make sure you don't buy a 22 Mag cyl for a model 53; it's too long.

But if you do find a model 53 cylinder cheap, buy it. A model 53 cylinder in 22 lr or 22 mag is worth way more than a normal K22 or 22mag cylinder. Last one I saw sold for over $600. They are about a 1/10" longer than the rest

They have some 22lr cylinders on E-bay for sale. I can't tell you if they will fit. Didn't look that close.
