I know I probably overpaid but found a model 48, no dash, 4 screw with an 8 3/8 bbl, TH and TT, s/n K419xxx in fair condition...maybe 75-80% today for $450. This gun came with standard grips. Is that normal or should there have been target grips on the gun.

They came both ways. My Model 48 wears correctly numbered Magna stocks. As Wingmaster suggested, look for the serial number on the inside of the right stock panel.

Pictures would help. Depending on how accurate your condition appraisal is you might be at the top end of the price line, but think of what $450.00 would buy you in a new gun, then judge for yourself if you got a good deal or not.

I too think you got a good deal. And if you paid too much, I was absolutely taken to the cleaners with my no dash 48 with TH, TT and TS which at 95% I paid twice what you did.

And that was before I knew it had firing pin damage to the cylinder. But a little clean up work and it shoots and looks great. Just don't look at the rear cylinder face...

450$, yes you paid too much, but being that I am such a nice guy, I will buy it from you for what you gave for it and pay the fees and shipping...:)

If you ever get tired of it bring it down to California and sell it for $900. I've got a 48 no dash that I shoot all the time. It's a tack driver but it does like to be cleaned frequently. I take a toothbrush with me to the range because I have to clean out from behind the star extractor every 50 rounds or so or it starts to bind up.

Overpaid?

NO!

Think: 8 3/8" barrel, Model 48, TT and TH, no dash.
Right there is worth $300 to me and it sounds like you have a really nice shooter-grade.

I paid $1050 for a no-dash long barrel just like that a year ago, but admit it had the box and was 98%. I would love to find one like yours for anything less than $650 and enjoy shooting it.

Love those K-frame long barrels !!!!!!
