The gun is a 3" Model 60 with adjustable sights, mid-1990's production. 95% condition with box. Round butt, target hammer, full lug heavy barrel. Caliber .38 Spl, not .357 magnum. BSCxxxx.

Can anyone give me a price for this gun? GB didn't list any 3" guns with adjustable sights.

Probably $450 to $500 I'd guess. Made one year only in a -4 configuration, I think. I used to have one and foolishly sold it. Very well balanced little j frame that I would highly recommend. They made the same model in a brushed matte blue called the 36-6 that was much more rare.

A local shop has one for $499+tax and will not budge on the price. I think that is why they have had it for over 6 months and it has'nt sold.
They are a neat little trail gun and are quite accurate from what I hear.

Extremely accurate for the type. Have one that is wife's gun. Made a good showing for itself at 50 yards, easy to get the accuracy out of.

I have one, and love it. It is the top gun in my avatar. With target grips. I keep forgetting that it is a 60. Feels like a full size gun.
It is a square butt.

Used price of $550 is what I've seen locally. It is my favorite carry piece for everything but the hottest of days and thinnest of garments.

I bought one for $399.95 plus tax last year at the gun shop in Kernersville, NC, and traded it to a friend. He still has it and wants $450 for it ftf in NC, if anybody is interested send me a pm. Original Uncle Mike's no box or docs.

Model 60 Three inch

I bought mine NIB about three years ago ?
I got it from the son of Harry Sanford, he was the gentleman who started
AMT and really helped launch Stainless guns into the marketplace.
He of course had mostly AMT and that sort in his collection, but there were also Stainless guns by others too.
I paid $450.00 for mine and wouldn't sell it for anything.I believe in a new gun one would have to buy a 357 nowadays which I can not understand.
Who needs it ? I only wish they would make me the same gun in 32 H&R
which I will never see new again I am sure because of that new fangled 327 Federal. Well when younger I would never have even considered a 32 I would have laughed at any of my friends if they had suggested it.
Now I am crying because the brass is so hard to come by.

It sounds like the one I got last weekend. I traded a very nice model 63 for it and couldn't be happier...it's a sweet little gun! It's one trade that I'm happy I made.

I found this one (a 60-4) for $360 at a show few months ago. Not new and no box, excellent condition. Extremely accurate, this 10 shot group is at 27 yds from a rest, 148g HBWC / 2.8 Bullseye. Only thing I will probably change is the grips (these are not original, I do have the originals), and I'll probably swap out the wide trigger eventually - it's not the best for DA shooting. (Of course I'll keep it in case I ever want to sell it). Polished the action, very smooth and clean.

I have a M60-4 3" 38spl. It is quite accurate for its small size. Makes a dandy light trail gun. I carry it in an El Paso #77 Tortilla holster.

I sprang for a couple of El Paso Saddlery holsters for mine. It's that good of a gun.

Terrific item for a backpacker who doesn't have to worry about bears. I think it'd take a cougar with Plus P SWC HP ammo, but wouldn't seek the experience to find out. ;) But professional hunters take cougar (treed ones) with .22's! With lighter loads, it kills small game well, for the pot. Of course, it has the power for any snake found in the USA, unless you encounter one of those pythons in the Everglades. Would probably work on them, too, with head shots.

The M-60-4 is a superb little gun. I am baffled why they changed it, although I guess they felt a need to compete with Ruger after the SP-101 came out in .357. But the Ruger is better suited to that level of power.

By the way, the factory told me that the M-60-4 is Rated for Plus P use. There are some heat treatment differences from older M-60's, and I think the cylinder retention is different, too. But I think a routine diet of standard loads is better, unless you need Plus P for a particular use.

I have Pachmayr Presentation Compac grips on mine, and recoil from Plus P's is quite reasonable.

This is currently my only J frame 38. I bought this for $440. and sold my 3" model 640 for $500. to a good friend.
With the rubber overmold laser grips it shoots like a much bigger gun.

Probably the coolest looking stainless J frame around ......

Between $400. and $500. I'd buy it. They will never make another just like it , if you know what I mean.

I paid a fellow collector $500 for one yesterday here in California with correct box; missed my chance to buy the gun when it was for sale a couple years ago at a local shop for $550. Sometimes you do get second chances..

So would the concensus be that a lightly used 3" 60 in .38 Spl, no box, be a little high at $545 or a buy it because you wont find another one deal. I kind of want one and there is a gun shop here that has one but the owner will not budge a penny on the price. For that money I could find a decent used stainless K or N frame revolver.

I think so. I posted above that my budy would take $450 for his (no box or docs, sweet condition, original grips, it's also for sale locally) and nobody has contacted me about it.

I got mine

I bought mine for $300 a couple of years ago at a local gun show. It's a hoot and a lot of fun to shoot. I wouldn't take less than $500 for it now, but it's not for sale!
