Model 60 and a Model 38

I have a couple of Revolvers in 38 Spc I'd like to try and date please.
Model 60 No Dash
SN 625789. No Letters diamond grips.
Model 38

Welcome! The model 60 is likely from late 1966 to early 1967. The model 38 is from 1982; if you have the original box for it we can date it pretty precisely.

Based on other Model 60s in my database (6222xx & 6224xx) that shipped in summer '68, I'd say that's likely when S&W shipped your Model 60. By that time it should have heat treated, flash chromed stainless steel hammer and trigger.

I don't show the ship date for a Model 38 in that serial range, but I list Models 36 & 37 in that serial range that shipped between May and July '82.

Model 60

The model 60 has a small blemish on the barrel like it was dropped at some point. Would it be better to have it smoothed out or replace the barrel?

I guess it all depends on what you want in the end. For me, there could be several approaches.
I'd consider doing nothing to it as one option if I was going to carry it, or just wanted to keep it 'original'.
Or, smooth it out and touch it up if you want it to present well when you show it.
Or "replace the barrel" would not be on my list. For me, the cost of doing that would be too high, and from what I saw in your picture, I'd either live with it or have a competent person remove the pesky blemish.
In the end, I would likely 'fix' it or have someone fix it for me. My skills are okay, but it could be more severe than I would touch.
So, it just all depends on what you want to live with....

Since it's not messing with the crown, I'd leave it alone.
