Model 60 No Dash Value

What is a reasonable value for a 99% Model 60 no dash? Barely visible cylinder line, face of receiver and cylinder show no firing evidence. At a local gun shop..do not know if box or papers available. Price tag says $575, but seeking info from knowledgeable readers on this forum...comments appreciated! I'm not a collector and would plan on shooting this. Thanks in advance. Ed

That sounds like a good average value, depending on actual condition and whether or not it has any "goodies" with it. Haven't seen any below the $450 mark in a while, though I suppose they're out there. But, if it's a good clean gun, even without the box and papers, sounds like an okay deal. Remember, cash in hand will usually sway most dealers to your way of thinking. Good luck, and be sure to post some pics when you can. We Love pics!!

I agree with Ken L. If box and documents with numbers matching grips then $575 is a "good" price and without the box and documents a reasonable price. If it's from prior to 1968 with original numbers matching diamond escutcheon grips then it would be an even better deal.

It sounds like a nice one, but I think the gun alone is about $475-500 in the current market - however, if you want it badly it is not an outrageous price.

I have one my father bought new in 1970 serial#R265XX & I was told around $550. It is in as near perfect condition as it gets only a few 38's put through it.

Not a really bad deal but if you have the time and sources you should be able to do better. Beat them down and you could get lucky Not to be picky, but you are in the wrong section. Your gun is from 1965 and 1972 and you might get a better response in the correct one

Thanks for the info - very helpful! Being a 74 yr. old rookie I now see I posted in the wrong vintage section. I went back and took a closer look. It does appear to be a 99 percenter, but no box, papers or extras. Agree that a figure in the $500 out the door vicinity would be more desirable. Meanwhile, I am recovering nicely from "sticker shock" after looking at GunBroker ). If I make a deal I will try my limited computer skills to post my first pics here. Best Regards, Ed

Or search around and be patient.

Purchased mine in 2008 for $349.99 no box or papers.
I sat and tried to locate one in MA for about 2 years and had to move like lightning on it when it became available.

I've owned it since the mid-80s and it still makes the rotation.

If you are on GB, click on Advanced at the top right of the page, click the Completed Items tab, type S & W or Smith model 60 in the search box, then choose how far back to look under Show Only/Ended Items for 30/60/90 days. Look for sold items (the prices will fall closer to Earth there).

Oh boy....I have (both within last year) paid less ($475) for a collector grade no dash with a box at a lgs. And I paid more ($694) for a less collectible 60 no dash. Also with a box. Maybe my records are wrong. I don't know how I did that? I must just have been gun drunk that day.

$500 is a fair price maybe even $550. Don't lose a decent gun you want for $50. What is that, a couple of boxes of ammo? It's the ammo that costs you in the long run anyway.
