I picked up my 2nd S&W today. Got a "used" but never fired Mod. 60 .38 stainless snub for $450. I thought it was a decent price. Opinions?

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you done a good job at it, did they give you a box of shells with it? The 60 is a nice piece and will last you a life time, take care of it and it will take care of you.

The model 60 is very popular among forum members. Mine, a 60-4, is possibly my favorite revolver. You will enjoy yours too!

The price is slightly more than I hope to pay for my next one, but not bad. And you just bought the best basic snub .38 ever made.

Congratulations. Just remember, a snub needs good marksmanship skills to be effective at any distance. But those little guns will shoot very well, in the right hands.

Which grips/stocks are on yours? A larger photo would help to identify them.

Granted, practice is needed with any gun to to be effective. Especially with a carry gun. But I've been shooting for 40 years, so I'm sure this little snub will do me just fine.
The grips are Hogue. As for the price, you might find a better price in Texas, but around here, chances are you'll pay more. I found three others. Two used, both priced at $500 and one new for $609. Also, by buying from an individual, I saved myself the 9.25% sales tax plus the $10 for a background check that the lgs would have charged. I'm happy I even found a good as new Mod 60, and for $450, I'm even happier!

A true classic and one you'll love to shoot.

Misty,

Welcome to the Forum! Nice Model 60, and I hope you enjoy it. By the way, what was your 1st S&W?

Regards,

Jerry
