Model 627 is an eyesore!

I really like how the glass bead blasted finish looks. I have sent a 686 to be bead blasted. A lot of people don't like the black hammer Trigger and screws on the m 69 and m 66-8. However I think it looks really good in combination with the bead blasted finish.

Stoning, buffing, polishing of the internals are what's done in an action job. It won't even damage real case hardening, unless it's way overdone with too coarse of a stone (I'm pretty ham-handed and I've never ruined one.) MIM and case-hardened parts can be done the same way with the same materials (except the little bump on a MIM trigger that contacts the cylinder stop.)

We are saying the same thing....

The thread needs the OPs photos. I want to see the differences.

I went to the gun shop today. I saw a new 66 and 69. They have a much darker bead blast matte finish. If this is the same as the OPs finish... I'd have to agree, its ugly and looks like dark, dull, grey plastic.

It's not the worst thing in the world, but, I personally would not be excited about it.

Edit: Forgot to add, the new 986, had a similar color. It's slightly less noticeable since the cylinder is the dark titanium color, which I think distracts you.

Who manufactured the sights shown in your picture. Outstanding photo by the way.

I just got my 627 Pro. The matte stainless is an eyesore. I didn't realize it would look that bad after seeing pictures, but I was wrong. It's too bad Smith & Wesson had to get lazy and mass produce their guns with machines. The trigger and hammer are bare metal. Uglier than sin. I'm taking my revolver to a gunsmith he's going to polish out and make it as stainless steel as possible. Including the triggers and hammer. If I can get close enough to my SP101 in sheen I'll be happy. I'm too old fashion to like this matte color.

Of course the trigger and hammer WOULD BE "bare metal," they are after all, stainless steel!
Matte is probably NOT the ideal finish for something like an N-frame M27, but it's easy to bring a stainless steel gun up from a matte finish to high-polish.
