Ok, this is my first post and my first question. I have a Model 629 with 8 3/8 barrel. I just bought a Burris 2x7 scope for it and it is at the gunsmith getting mounted. I just want some thoughts if I did the right thing. I have read that 2x is all I need, and am now having second thoughts. I want to use the gun for deer hunting. I would like it to be accurate out to 75 yards or so. I have 59 year old eyes, hence the scope. I figure worst case scenario, I can just leave it at lowest setting, but that seems a waste of scope power.

I have a TC Gen 1 Contender w/ a 10 inch barrel. Like you,
I wasn't sure about scoping it so I went with a cheaper scope,
a Simmons 2x pistol scope. Figured if I liked it, I could upgrade
to a Leupold (my favorite scope manufacturer) or a Burris like
yours. Well, I like it, like it a lot and the Simmons seems to be
holding up just fine. I may keep it as is and scope my m29 w/
a Leupold. :)
