Model 65 barrel lengths

"They are asking $450. Which seems too good to be true for a 3" k-frame?"

Sometimes winning the lottery happens. Hope you get it.

PM me the contact info, I wouldn't be sitting on my *** wondering if I should buy a $450 3" K-frame stainless 357 magnum.
it was 3 minutes to closing when I said "I'll take it" and too late to start the paperwork so he put it in the back to hold for me. I'll get back before they close today.

I brought it home tonight, and they sold me a couple boxes of ammo (38 LRN) too. Appreciate the encouragement!

Is there a way to find out the year of production, and what grips/stocks would have been on it originally?

Model 65-5
s/n BSC9995

thanks!

Congrats to OP.
Poor quality but the pic of -5 LS has original smooth (uncheckered) rosewood magnas, typically found on LS models.
I'm guessing yours would also have magnas of some kind, wood or maybe synthetic???

These would have come on the Lady Smith of the -5 vintage for sure. The regular gun probably had rubber originally, but S&W was pushing Ace Grips pretty hard at the time.

Those grips suck for shooting though.

The factory Ace grips that came on the Lady Smith. They would benefit from a grip adapter for sure. By themselves, they are slippery and hard to hold on to.

The bottom grips are Altamont manufactured S&W Talo overruns I bought from Altamont off of Gunbroker for 9 bucks.

They absolutely do benefit from a grip adapter. My wife's favorite shooter (with .38's).

the one I'm looking at is a 65-5, clearly stamped on the yoke.

They are asking $450. Which seems too good to be true for a 3" k-frame?

This counts as aerobic exercise for us "older" S&W addicts..,..,

Took her to the range today, wonderful shooter. Really smooth trigger. Surprising how much different it feels from the 4" inchers (67/65) I used to have. (But the rubber grip also makes a big difference.)

Unfortunately I couldn't find any 357 lately, so only shot 38 today. A good excuse to buy more ammo (357) and get back to the range.

Did some (DA) defensive drills side-by-side with my carry gun (Glock 43). I'll probably never be able to shoot it as well as the G43, but it's a lot of fun to shoot. The smooth/wide face of the metal revolver trigger is a whole lot more comfortable to shoot than the plastic Glock trigger with that annoying dongle.

At some point I may put some hi vis paint on the front sight blade of the M65 and let them race again and see what happens...

I've done a lot of "catch-and-release" revolver collecting since I first caught this bug a few years ago. But this one is definitely a keeper. Next I'll start the hunt for its blued version. Is there a 3" Model 13?
