What would make a model 66-1 with a 2 5/8" barrel be worth $2,200 dollars in a Denver gun store ?
I can think of several reasons the measurement was wrong, but management says it's good.
What do you think.
A 50/50 mix of alcohol and testosterone.

I was at sale this past summer and saw a gun I was interested in with no tag. I enquired the price ( should have been $300-$400 range) guy told me he was looking for $700. After glancing at my watch I told him if I hadn’t had to be home for supper I would stay and help him “ look “
I guess people decided they might as well put out their gun at ridiculously high price, some idiot might buy it.
Believe it or not I paid $425 for this one in June of 2019 with 3Ts and original SS sights. It’s shocking what the M66 goes for these days. I paid $600 for a NIB 4” 1973 M66 w/stainless sights, combat & magna grips a few years ago.
With those grips, you might get that much on GB these days. A -1 ~1980 with box and papers just closed at $1880 over the weekend. With rubber grips, and the pics do not even show the s/n on the box. The details with lots of pics can be found here:I paid $400 for this one with the grips shown, box, tools, magna grips and paperwork about 12 years ago. It had been fired 6 times though. (It belonged to an elected Sheriff in NC who carried a 1911 and only shot one cylinder through it and put it in the office safe. I bought it from a subsequent Sheriff of the county who bought it when they transitioned to new weapons).
I might consider selling it for $2200.

Just a moment...
Admittedly, there were only 2 people bidding at the end, and it was a Sunday night, but maybe you should track down the loser of that auction!![]()
There is definitely some dirt visible here and there, and in the hi rez pics (bottom of the listing), there are shiny spots on either side of the front of the barrel, that look like holster wear, at least to me. I also find it interesting that the seller does not show the end of the box where you can usually find the serial number, but they DO show the other end.Just think of how much that gun would have fetched if the face of the cylinder had been cleaned properly. Unless there is something going on now that people need to know for sure that the gun can be fired... ????![]()

Unless it is accompanied by a no-strings-attached night of passion with a 21 year old Raquel Welch, it ain't worth it.
Even a night with an 81 year old Raquel Welch might be worth it!
