Model 66 Super K

Does anyone know what these are worth today? They were offered by Lew Horton in 1997. They had a specially contoured 3" barrel and were Magna-ported. I owned one a long time ago & wish I could find another.

Browsing older threads on them and considering there are probably a lot more guys wanting one today than there were 5 years ago, along with the prices scarce S&Ws are fetching today, I wouldn't be surprised to see one at auction go $2K or more. In fact, I'd be surprised if one were to sell for less. After all, it may be the finest combat K-frame the factory ever produced.

Any idea how many were produced? I love the gun, but don't want a Mag-Na-Ported gun in a defensive situation. But it sure is pretty! I'm guessing it was the inspiration for the Ladysmith.

The 65LS is based on the 65 with the shrouded ejector borrowed from the 66 and was made from 1991 until 2004. The Super K was one year only...1997...so it came after the LS was already in production.

The Super K is cool and all but is more of a collector piece in my mind. Not much on the porting so will stick with the standard 3" 66 and of course the 65LS is a great gun, too.

Now if I had gobs of gun money would I want one? Sure, but as a safe queen. But since I don't have gobs of gun money I'll have to admire it from a distance. One thing for sure...if I had a Super K you guys would be sick of seeing the pictures!

Someone here has one so I'll be expecting that picture right along.

Not to nit pick BUT, I'm surprised S&W's advertising folks / copy writers didn't understand the difference between "complimented" and "complemented".

Interesting variation but If a bigger snub is required the "K" and "F" comps or heavier L frame 686 snub work for a fraction of the cost.
