I am not very familiar with Smith autos. I have a 4506 now and think it is great but it is big.
I seem to remember another Smith 45 auto that was very similar except it had a shorter barrel, bobbed hammer, no finger hook on the trigger guard and I THINK it had a shorter grip/mag.

Is my memory bad? If not.....what was the model?

I would love to find one for cc carry.

Sounds like you are describing the 4516. All steel, bobbed hammer, round trigger guard, 7-round mag.

The light weight aluminum framed version is the 4513.

Great compact 45's. Hope this helps. Regards 18DAI.

Thanks. Makes me feel a little better about my memory.
Need to get my hands on both and then find the one I want to keep.
I knew someone on here would know.

I havent fired the 4516 but I can tell you its a heavy pig.
So I bought the 4513 TSW. Its light weight, slim, easy to carry. However, I prefer the grip of my 4013TSW.

Is durability an issue at all with the aluminum frame? I shoot carry guns a lot.....not one for shooting one and carrying another.

Thanks for all of the info.
