seems to me that if ruger can get away with not having locks on those, or on the LCP, then what is smiths problem?
i understand that a lock company bought them, but seriously... when your "safety improvements" can lock a gun up and make it unable to fire when needed, or in the case of the short firing pins, making a weapon that someones life could depend on into what is essentially a paperweight at best, or a deathtrap at worst.
when your core customer group (law enforcement) cannot even carry your newly improved product due to safety concerns, you've got problems.
hopefully after all these years of their customers griping, maybe smith has opted to go in for surgery and get that cranial anal extraction done.
