I always get sucked into these Post Office complaint threads because for the life of me I cannot imagine how anything as complicated and serious could be done cheaper. When you think about how many people get the medications they need delivered in the mail, about all the monetary issues of payments for services rendered, etc. it just amazes me when people have a complaint. My wife has been running an in-home business for close to forty years, she mails out stuff on a daily basis and receives checks in the mail almost daily, she buys forever stamps by the box. In all that time she has maybe had a dozen hiccups, I think I have had more problems with UPS deliveries in ten years than she has in forty and mine were serious muzzle of rifles sticking out of the box type incidents.
I had a buddy that bid on a rural postal route, that is how it is done. He won the bid and had to provide his own vehicle, he did it for enough time to get a right hand system, it paid fairly well, but everything changed a few years ago before Dejoy and he was was bumped out. The entire USPS system changed a couple years ago, everyone went part time, there was plenty of work but the good old days of having your own route for a lifetime were gone. My nephew went to work for them, they gave him all the hours he wanted, he filled in wherever he could, lots of hours. His dream was to get a job as a Postmaster for a small place.
