My most expensive gun purchase that I almost made was a cased pair of martini rifles. oOne was 303 British and the other in 577/450. Lightly engraved beautifly wood and a few boxes of Kynock ammo to go with him. every week I'd show up like clock work and hand over the $25 I agreed to pay each week. This lasted a few months when the dealer Said to me at $25 a week $100 per month was going to take 15 months to pay it off. He was trying to let me down gently. I got my money back and someone else got the martinis. Making $125 a week $100 a month was a lot to me. This was back in the mid 70's. Frank

I'd have to say, my M&P 10.
$1300.00 for the rifle, $850.00 for the scope, another $100 in furniture upgrades. $260 for trigger, $100 for brake, $60 for bag, oh, now I need scope mount rings, cleaning kit, magpul wrench, etc etc etc etc. Never ends.

My Webley Fosbery in .455 cost me 4000 and My Smith and Wesson Schofield cost me 3000 dollar. converted from euro.

The only flaw is that in time the Schofield is refinished. The colour is great. But they where to enthousiastic. The markings are gonne. I hate that. But. The only time when this revolver is on sale again, and that counts for the Fosbery to is when I am serious dead.

Well, I bought some titanium 1911 slides for about 50 grand one time.....yup, there's a story there.

I sure would like to read that story. Titanium may be too light for a 45 ACP slide, but what about 9mm? I'm wondering if a titanium slide on a Lightweight Govt model 9mm would be doable?

I have since paid more for some trap guns, but in terms of ratio to earnings, my most expensive was a Winchester 21 Skeet. Shot a couple of rounds of skeet (not my game) and took it hunting pheasants once. Could not enjoy hunting with it, as I was constantly concerned about hurting it. Went back to an 870, happily ever since.

LOL..... the most 'valuable" gun I bought was my 6 1/2" Registered Magnum in 98% condition...................

for me the good news was; it was on consignment at a LGS for about 10% of it's then "Fair Market Value"....... so I've got about 5% of today's "FMV" in it.



Other than that a limited run steel frame, two tone Sig 220 .45 with Nills grips for just under a $1,000 about 10 years ago and a Wilson Combat Centurion Tactical for $1,250 as a retirement gift to myself.....it's serial # is the month and year of my birth........


Bought an Smith AR in late 2012 for just under a thousand..... the following week they were selling for +$2000, topping out at about $2,500 IIRC.......... now they are back down to the 2012 price.

I never thought that I would have a GRAND into just one firearm but I was offered this Model 41 S&W 5 1/2" heavy barrel.

But it came with an extra 7" barrel with attached red dot scope.

Then I was able to purchase the 5" field barrel for it. Extra mags and such brought the price up over the $1000 level.

I have essentially the same set but a No 2 in 20 and 28 gauges. I got it used several years ago but for the heck of it inquired at AyA as to the duplication cost today. The quote that came back was a shade under $14K not including shipping and any taxes! For your information; I have a fair market value on this set today of about half of retail.

I can tell you I went on to an auction site...about 30 minutes after taking an Ambien...and was placing bids for Registered Magnums (Magna plural?) for 20 minutes or so! Did not win any of them!

Mine is not that impressive financially - I spent $1500 on a Kleinguenther K-14 deer rifle.

Several years ago spent $2500 to have Hamilton Bowen convert a 44Mag Redhawk to 475Linebaugh. The gun cost me $500 new. Sold it for more than I had in it.

I used to think $900-1000 was too much for a revolver made in the last 30 years. Not so much anymore, everything is really skyrocketing fast. Hard to find stuff is still hard to find but now it comes with a price.

This Dan Wesson 740 with 2 extra barrels ran me almost $1300. Where the heck else are you going to get one though?

I should be picking up another dan Wesson super mag tomorrow (375 SM). It was a better price for the gun but the dies, brass, etc is gonna drive the cost way up.

SLT223: If the Thompson were for sale here you could add a zero to the price! I have never even see this full auto Beretta model before. Is this a police issue firearm in Europe? I know Glock at one time offered a full auto model but they are very scarce here!

A Stevens Favorite originally in 32 RF that my dad had converted to 32 S&W Long. That was the first firearm for which I ever reloaded. Since then (1973) I've probably spent more on reloading than any half dozen firearms I own combined.
