Most ugly revolver in the S&W line?

This thread has convinced me to stick with my old 5-screw N-frames. Dang some of these modern things are terrible! Didn't realize you could make a Smith look that bad.

Never Thought It Being Ugly

standard.jpg

Forgive me if I posted this picture years ago when I first joined the S&W Forum.

I never thought my Model 49, black blued at the Royal Thai Armory, with asian elephant ivory grips carved by a Vietnamese Colonel who was a faithful comrade up to the bitter end was ugly.

It was one of three guns I routinely carried, 1968-1969, 1972-1973, 1974-1975, although I did not get the grips until 1975.

Usually I carried a Baby Browning in a neat black belt pouch that looked like what a mobile phone carrier looks like now, the Model 49 in a Berns-Martin Lightning Triple Draw, in various positions, depending upon outer dress, and my favorite, a Browning Hi-Power T Series in a Company-supplied holster with external magazine pocket, as an external carry weapon. If going somewhere doubtful, I added a Swedish K, or later an Uzi.

One of my major objections to being a contractor in Aghanistan was the official policy which discouraged one from carrying a weapon. I hated that from day one on. Depending on others, particularly local nationals armed with ancient AK's, is not my way.

All this long thread proves is that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Just like with women, some guys like slender athletic types, others prefer more Reubenesque figures.

Some of the guns called ugly here I don't find offensive at all, others I do. Don

Show me a picture of a 296, am not familar with this one. I agree with ALL of your choices. They just don't come any uglier than those you have shown. I especially hate the new contour of the frame next to the hammer on the last of the S&W revolvers as well as that hole in the left side of the frame called the lock.
