I haven't heard of a Blue "L" frame MG. That may not mean much. I have one of the pre-lock 686 7 shot MGs. Nice. Far more attractive than that homely full lug barrel that infests the vast majority of the "L" frames.

Engine 49 - I've seen it listed as both an L-Frame and an N-Frame. I'm just guessing here, but I believe the old 520 that was issued by NYSP back in the 60s/70s was an N-Frame, and the new 520 that was given a limited run lately was an L-Frame. But this is just my speculation that would fit why some call it an L and some call it an N...
