Welcome to Idaho! You'll never want to leave. You'll get used to the snow. The first winter I moved out here we got 70 inches of snow just in December alone. My biggest problem so far has been moose knocking down my horse fencing. But as it turns out that was just a handy excuse for me to pick up a new .410 shotgun. I really didn't want to hurt them, just persuade them to move on down the road.

Salmon is listed as Elmer Keith's hometown. Even more reason to like your new home.

Welcome to God's Country...I'm a native Idahoan, moms family was from the Princeton/Potlatch area. I settled in Spokane but am only 30 minutes away from Idaho and 30 minutes away from 30 lakes in every direction. I prefer my mountains covered with trees but to each his own. That country is high, wide and handsome..it has its own special quality, I find dawn and dusk to be particularly attractive. I lived in Ogden, Utah for seven years and although it can be god-forsaken in the summer months there are times in the year when those mountains can be breath-taking. I remember one morning we woke up and it had snowed down to about six thousand feet, below that the mountain oaks were still covered with bright red leaves, there was a line as clear as if you had drawn it where that red and white demarkation was, it was truly wonderous, pure white above all the way to the peak of Mt. Ben Lomond which I think was near 10K, clear blue sky above...closest thing I ever saw to the Stars and Stripes naturally.
Mickey; Good for you. Nice country. I've hunted there for many years going back to 1954. Last was just above you at Gibbonsville. in 1990. Getting too old to move now but sure wanted to earlier. Sure good hunting & fishing nearby. Enjoy.

Beautiful view! 3 months and counting until we move to western Tennessee. Not as panoramic, but 3 acres of trees, and no one to bother us. Oh, and I can shoot, Shoot, SHOOT!!!

That is a really nice home and shop. The area around you is so pretty. I wish you a long and happy life in your new home. When you get out running around please post some more pictures. It looks as if you hit the jackpot when you moved, it is what one dreams about for a place to live.
Congrats, Mickey! I like to see a plan come together like that. I've been through there before and find the country around there remarkable. Do you know what elevation you're at?
