Multiple Myeloma .. Prayers Needed UPDATE #116

Yes I know I can find support here !! It has been a rough few months for my family with my brother .. And then last Monday my daughter-in-law's Mother passed after a short illness .. Her Dad passed Christmas Day a few years ago .. Christmas season hasn't been kind to us !!

I do know the power of prayer and what it can do !! We think everyone many times every day !!

One of my best friends is suffering from this scourge. The better news is that he has had it now for about 10 years now. He goes in for blood work maybe every month or so, an a team of doctors monitor his condition. Prior to that, he had beat colon cancer. He's 76 now, and while it is taxing to live under this threat, it sure beats the alternative.

I will pray for him...

Best Regards, Les

Mark had his video conference with medical representatives at Vanderbilt University Hospital .. They have given him a date of January 29,2018 for him to be in Nashville for the beginning of his stem cell transplant treatment .. will be there between 6 to 8 weeks according to how everything goes and how well he responds !

Was in good spirits and is ready to get the procedure started .. He has been so worried that something will cause a set back he is in a lot of pain with this terrible cancer ..

Merry Christmas to all !!

know that he is in my prayers... I'm fighting it too... Mental attitude & a "I can beat this" frame of mind is essential... our family docs & my oncologist are both glad of my outlook. Good nutrition is essential as is prayer.

I'm urging him to be frank & honest with his nurses & oncologist on his pain... meds are available for oncology patients...but it is also up to us patients to safe guard our meds & to prevent others from stealing them.

I just finished praying for your brother, Whitwabit. And for da gimp, too.

I'll keep praying for both and for the others on this forum in need of prayer.

I believe the prayers from folks on this Forum helped me when I was pretty sick with that stinking cancer a couple of years ago and I believe they will help you, too.

Bob

Talked to Mark today and they have given him a date and will pick up tickets to Nashville this next week ..

Tests will start the 29th and should last about 2 weeks before they harvest his stem cells and give him the massive dose of chemo that will kill the cancer cells in his body ..

The many prayers from everyone are very much appreciated .. Its so hard watching a loved one go thru this !!

Now the Government shut down has him worried that everything will be either canceled or put off till its resolved .. No one seems to know anything or what if anything will happen to patients in the VA system ..

Added you to my prayer list .. He has to be up front with his doctors about his pain level and the drugs that he is on .. Nutrition is a must to attempt to stay as health as you can with all the stuff that going on in the body ..

My sister will be with him during the treatment and after he gets home .. He is not married and hasn't been in 30 some years with no dependents ..

Good luck to you !!

Mark called and tomorrow the 1st of February he starts the shots to increase his stem cell counts for 4 days and then 2 days of harvesting them .. a couple of days to recoup before the massive doses of chemo will be given to him to kill all the cancer in his bone marrow ..

He is very up beat and I think is very glad that his treatment has now started..

Thanks to all for the prayers ..
