Music You Enjoy

I've posted before about songs that just seem to come from nowhere.
Last night my wife mentioned that we need to get away for a while.

The reply she got was, "An Alabama Getaway."

I'm far from being a "DeadHead" but some of their stuff I enjoy.

While my wife is aware of many Grateful Dead songs, she'd never heard this one. My mind can be a wondrous or dangerous place. I seem to have little muzzle control on what exits my mind through my unpredictable piehole.

I woke up with this one playing in my head today.

It reminds me of my Grandfather Bell. Although he's been gone since 1971 I still hear him singing this. He was a big fan of Earnest Tubb, Roy Acuff, Eddy Arnold, and of course Hank Sr.

This one sticks out more than any other though.

When this was first released I had little appreciation for it.
Too pop, too disco, etc.

We were putting together music for a class of 76 25th HS reunion and I was volunteered to help. That's when I sat down and really listened. It's still a bit too disco for my taste, but these guys were really good. To this day, when I hear it I do my best to hear it all the way through.

It encouraged me to explore a bit more of their and similar artists stuff. There was a lot of talent behind these recordings.

Due to their genre there were a lot of talented instrumentalist that I overlooked as a young man. I have now come to appreciate just how tight many of these groups were. They just clicked.
