My 1076 shoots low

Yes, ... the usual remedy for a low-shooting defensive pistol with fixed sights, is to install a SHORTER front sight, not a taller one.

That should correct the problem.

Also, you don't need a snaggy adjustable rear sight on a defensive EDC weapon, which is what the 1076 was always intended to be.

Leave adjustable sights for target pistols and other range toys.

Changing a front site isn't too complicated. However, you could call S&W and see what they say. They may swap out the site for your for free. Couldn't hurt to call and ask. Or they may send you a shorter one depending on who you get on the phone.

I received the lower front sight from S&W, they did not have a part number for the 1076 so I ordered the @jsbethel recommended one. Did not search yet, is this a straightforward swap out? What is the best way to do it.

Drive the old sight out to the right and drive the new sight in to the left.

I have a 1076 ... Your gun's sights are fine.

It's always the singer, not the song. ;)

Yep
I also thought my 1006 was shooting 4-6 inches low at 10 yards...until I let my buddy and expert pistolero take his turn. For unknown reasons I am apparently pushing as I pull the trigger causing the low hits. I've never experienced this with any other handgun. The 1006's long trigger pull is taking a while to get used to. Before changing sights, have another experienced shooter give it a try.

Like, waaayyyy low. At 20 ft I cover the bullseye with the sights and I am shooting 3-4" below. Good groups but even sights at 12 o'clock they are still mostly not on the black. Used 3 diff types of ammo and some variation but same result.

Shooting my Delta Elite same day same hold no probs.

Is this problem unique to my gun? Doesn't appear that the sights have been messed with.

Another problem seen with newbies & less experienced shooters that causes the "hitting low" syndrome is dropping the front sight as they pull thru on the trigger. Train to keep the front sight in the same place (same POA) on the target thru the entire pull of the trigger.

Sometimes the 'dropsies' also occur do to the tendency to want to see where the bullet they just fired hit the target, and so the shooter starts, very subtly, to drop or dip the front sight down before completing his trigger stroke thru to its most rearward position.

I've found the 3rd Gens hit low, for me. 3914, 6906, 4013, 4013TSW,
4513TSW. CS9, and 1076--all low. The front sight on the 1076 was filed
down when I got it, and it's "low factor" is less than the rest.

There's plenty of threads from other shooters, asking about
"new to them" 3rd Gens that shoot low.

I'm a shooter, not a collector, so POA=POI matters. I want
to SEE where the bullet will hit, above the rear sight--not
cover it.

I got a deal on LPAs, and they do the trick. The 1076
may end up with a NOS Bomar, if I get the nerve to grind
the tiny 'lip' at rear of slide.
