I recently bought these 2 J Frame beauty's and could not stand the rubber grips. Low and behold after ordering 2 weeks ago and them not having my grips in stock, they had to make them and I just got them in the mail literally 15 minutes ago and could not wait to get them on. Love the look of the guns now, they look so rich with these wood grips on them. This is the way the guns should come from S&W in my opinion... Enjoy..

btw, will have a shooting review some time in the next week or so to see how they shoot with these grips on them. I will tell you that the boot grips work allot better reloading with HKS speed loaders than the 3 finger Combats do.

I also have 2 kydex holsters in route as well, an aiwb for the Pro and smaller guns and a aholster pocket holster too...

Nice grips!
Looking forward to the range report and thanks for sharing.

Very nice. I always switch back and forth between my rubber grips and Altamonts. Love the look of the Altamonts better than the rubber, of course. But I love the grip of the rubber better.

I am toying around practicing with my hks speed loads and the boot grips work awesome. The combats are not so great. I might see if altamont can do their magic on the grip to allow more clearance for the speed loader. I just hate sending stuff back though. grrrrr

A gentleman told me he uses surfers wax on his wood grips and they don't slip at all under recoil. I was like waaaaaaaaaa? I've never tried that. Or would've thought to.

But I'm the same as you. I like the way wood looks but rubber seems better for actually firing. I need to order some surfers wax at some point. I still don't have a pair of wood grips I like the size of yet though. The ones I have are too small.

OP, if speedloader "speed" and still get a usable grip... Then stock "Magna's" coupled with a Tyler-T grip is what you seek. Been down that road, bought the same Altamont's you have... then I went back to Magna's and paired them with the Tyler's and all is right again. I wear both revolvers pictured below in the carry rotation. One, worn in a Bianchi @ 3:30 and the other in a DeSantis "Nemesis" pocket holster.

I only use speed strips any more. Although maybe I should go back to speedloaders too. My rubber boot grips kind of hang them up.
