My 4014 is now a 1014

I have converted mine over to 10MM

Since the world has YouTube to share videos, I was playing with a new idea to show off a pistol instead of just a picture or two. Tell me what you think.

Obviously this take lots more time and work to do than a couple of pictures so I am wondering if it is worth it

That is a great looking smith in the video and would look great in pics also. I think a video of the 4014 at the range would be nice. Thanks for the video and info. Best of luck and enjoy that new 10 mm.

I have several Polaroid Action Cams that I plan on clamping to the shooting dividers so that multiple angles can be captured at the same time.

I am waiting for my supply of the new 10MM offering to arrive from Federal before doing that.

Nice gun. The video too. Videos definitely add a dimension that pictures don't have but a good quality picture is nice to enlarge & drool over too. Unfortunately for me, my PC doesn't handle full screen videos very well, especially HQ ones. I have to run them in the normal/small view so I loss some of the desired effect.

Did you modify the 4014 yourself or have someone do it? I haven't searched for it but I guess someone's detailed what all to do for a mod like that?

This started with a Forum member named Bad_Man_1 over two years ago. I had tried several times to get him to do work on mine and had committed to a couple of other purchases from him. Not sure what happened to him, he has been kind of absent for perhaps 6 months now. Well nothing ever got done between mis-communications and bad timing. Probably more my fault than anything.

Someone that he had done the conversion for was returning his pistol to 40S&W and I purchased the parts and magazines. It saved me much work on my own.

Never got the CS40 converted to a CS10. Perhaps one day BM1 will return and I can have him do the little gun.

There are many threads on the process and it is all fairly well documented if you want to duplicate the work. I have a 4013 inbound right now, I may swap the slides to have a pair of two-tones just to be different.

What weight springs did you use? I wonder how the aluminum frame will handle the extra power over time? I'll have to do some investigating on the process. (I just bought my first 10mm, a 1076, that will hopefully be here later this week so I'll have to play with it first.)

I remember the day that I eagerly fired my first 1076. That same day I ran several magazines through my first MP5/10. It was more than two decades ago now.

When the FBI transitioned to the 1076, the Agents fired 1200 rounds of ammunition through their new weapons. Those were good days. I filled two 5 gallon buckets up with once fired brass and took them home for my 10MMs.

Awesome! I finally got to the range with my 4013 today and it's got some pretty stout recoil with my issued 165g Speer Gold Dots. I can imagine that you're "1014" is going to be a real hand cannon!!

If that is SAMMI spec, then yes. They are 10MM magazines with spacers, not 40S&W magazines.

Will the load you are thinking about fit in a 1006 magazine?

Yes my 10 mm loads are 1.25" and fit 1006 magazines. Why are the spacers required?

Because the 40S&W cartridge is shorter than the 10MM Auto cartridge

While we are at it, the 40 to 10 conversion. Here is a picture of the one I did up in the Man Cave. Also a comparison of the stock mag and 10 converted mag. I did change out the yellow follower for a newer white follower. The yellow one came with a 1066.

I really love the conversions, guys and I've followed them intently.
And I get it!
There's just something satisfying in making a good thing even better.
But there are a few things that I have not gleaned from my readings:
The single stack .40s are built on the .45 frame.
Are the 10XX series pistols also built on the .45 Frame?
Do the 10XX series magazines fit in the .45 frame?
Will the 10XX series slides run on the .45 Frame?
I've done a pretty fair amount of slide swapping on other 2nd and 3rd gens but never had a chance to try this one.
Anyone know the answer?

The 10mms & 45s are on the large frame, as are the 4013/4014/4053/4054 non-TSW models.
The magazines will not interchange between the 10mm & 45. The magwells/magazines are different sizes.

I was curious about the mags and magwells because I thought the .45 and 10XX pistols took the same grips. Not unlike the 9mm and .40 s&w double stack pistols which share grip and magazine dimensions.
I guess I got more to learn.

The full size 10mm & 45s (1006 & 4506, etc) take the same grips. And the compact 40 & 45s on the large frame (4013 & 4516 etc.) take the same grips. The grip frames are the same size externally, in each pairing, but the magwell sizes are different between each caliber.

I wonder the same and if the frame could crack like Deltas. Good looking conversion though.
