I have been a shooter and gun enthusiast for over 60 years. When I was a kid, the Browning Hi-Power and Walther P38 were my dream guns. (I of course now own one of each!)
I have 20+ years law enforcement, and 7 years military. Much of that time, I was a firearms instructor, evaluator, competitor, and rangemaster. I have shot probably several hundred different firearms in that time.
I shot one of the first Glocks in the US in 1982, and liked it. It is a good Law Enforcement tool, and superbly easy to teach new shooter with. I also shot a "toolroom" pre-production S&W 469 around the same time, and also loved it.
I an NOT impressed, however, with were handgun design and production has gone. Gen V Glocks have become too complicated, when simplicity is what made them great tools. Pistols are getting too lumpy and bumpy, with sharp edges (i/.e Hellcat, XD9). Handguns are loosing the sleek lines of Glock Gen I/II, and 3rd gen S&Ws.
Even Ruger took its thin, sleek, and compact LC9 (which is a superb pocket pistol) and enlarged it and gave it sharp edges! What are they thinking? Some of the designs look like they were made by an Artsy-Fartsy design team!
Even the Glock 26, while a good weapon, is too chunky. (I sold my Glock 26 as soon as I found out i was getting my last 469, which is now being replaced by the better 6906!)
