I understand Christmas is a time of giving, and believe me, I do give, both to family, friends and the community, but occasionally I buy myself something too. When I saw these advertised, and for a price well below what Dillon charges, I said what the heck. They are tool heads for a Dillon 650XL, for the uninitiated, and yes, I really do reload each of those calibers with this machine. Converting all my old set ups to the new tool heads will take some time, but being retired, time isn't much of an issue, plus it's a labor of love during a time of the year when going outside isn't that much fun to begin with!

Nice colors I just have the plain Jane's
Dillon makes a holder with a post in the middle
Mine just lay on their sides
Been a project for awhile to build one so no more primer punches get bent
I have so many, one piece design in rows would be nice
Kinda angled on the wall
For another day

Very nice present indeed. I have no idea of the cost but I no RCBS ones bring 25$ each. Enjoy!

Dillon runs right around $29.95 unless you buy 3 or more, in which case, they are $27.95 each. These were two different prices: $23.95 and $25.95. The guy that makes them explained that some of the anodized colors cost more than others. Also, they were (are?) on sale. Normal price is $35.50. When I sell my old ones, I'll make a lot of my money back. ;)

Neat looking tool heads. I only load 4 or 5 calibers on the 650s. I did get myself a kinda Christmas present at the last gun show in Bozeman A Rem 788 in (gag) 308. I think I am gonna get rid of some of the high end rifles I have like the Kimbers, Sakos and Weatherbys . Hardly shoot 'em anymore anyway. Probably find a few more ole 788s or 722s or whatever.

There's nothing wrong with the .308 Remington. Short action and almost as potent as the 30-06, and there are a ton of bullet choices out there. Are there better choices? All depends on what you're after. There are lots of worse choices as well, using the same criteria. ;)

I love your dedicated tool heads. However I would recommend, that if you load both 38 Special & 357 Mag. I would get a second set of dies and tool head, then set up dedicated loading die set for each. I'm set up on a 550b and have 12 die sets permanently set up (except for powder drop!)

The only 38 Specials I do anymore are wadcutters - hence the 38 WC tool head. :)

I see we really do agree, but that I am unobservant! My permanent tool heads are 44-40, 44 Special, 44 Russian, 45ACP, 45 Colt., 38 Special, 9mm, 45-70 Gov't, 22 Hornet, 218 Bee, & 308 Win. I sold all my 44-40's so I'll turn the plate back into "available for custom work" and put the dies back in their box. I sold my last 44 Special revolver and have about 600 rounds for a 1873 rifle (that should last the rest of my life). I now have 3, 44 Mags: so I'll adjust that die set to mag length. Now I have to figure out how to relable the tool heads!

Have you ever noticed, nobody gives you gifts like you do!

Ivan

Ivan, I do have one tool head no shown in the picture. It's one with a Lee universal decapping die. I use it to run brass through for depriming before wet tumbling. With no other operations going on but the depriming, I can run a ton of brass through in a very short period of time. I deprimed 500 rounds of 45 brass for a friend and it took 15 minutes. :D
