I bought a Benchmade Auto 5000 back about 2003. I carried it in Kosovo and in Afghanistan. It rides nicely clipped in my hip pocket these days.
My only two autos are both USA made Kershaw. I have nothing to compare them to but both have very snappy action and very sharp out of the box. I've been toying with the idea of a Pro Tech but most have handle design only on one side and I don't care for that. I'm gonna look again at Blade HQ now…..
My EDC is a Benchmade Auto-Presidio 5000. On Sunday and dress occasions, I carry a Benchmade Auto-Benchmite. I have other knives that hold great sentimental meaning for me. But, the Presidio and Benchmite were bought when I had lost the use of my left hand due to burns. Thankfully my left-hand has recovered, but I have never lost my appreciation for those two autos. Possibly some day I will buy another, but it will be more just to have and carry, not to be put to hard extreme use. Sincerely. bruce.

My only auto knife used to be the Benchmade 5000, but at some point I encountered the Gerber 06 and decided to add that to my stable.
With cold and wet hands or in thick gloves, not an uncommon situation outdoors for a large part of the year here in the Pacific NW, that big button and the big flat safety slider are very "handy".
