What a handsome creature! My brother has a couple of those guys and they give him a lot of enjoyment. When he calls, you can hear them whooping it up in the background. He says they like to start in as soon as they see him put the phone to his ear. :D

Want another one?

I have an Umbrella Cockatoo, she's nutsy coo coo :) She talked when she first came home, then I taught her how to whistle songs.. She decided she liked whistling a LOT.. Much to my dismay! Who knew something 12 or so inches tall could be so LOUD :)

Charlie sure is a handsome chap!

My 3 bestest buddies Max, English Black Lab. Max and my Grandson Aden, and Sasha overgrown Yorkie

That is a beautiful bird. We baby sat one for my niece some yrs ago. Unless you snapped a lock on the door of his cage he could open it faster than we could. He had a colorful vocabulary too.
We have an Amazon 24 yrs old. Maybe not as big or pretty as the macaw but she's family:)

Is Charlie a yellow-front?

My husband Charlie had a yellow-front. It was a good bird, until Charlie and his girlfriend had a fight and she went home to her parents with the bird for 6 months, where they spoiled it rotten.

Charlie and his gf got back together and the bird came back but he was very ornery. Charlie put him in his cage one night and apparently he didn't want to go, because when Charlie leaned forward to tell it good night, the bird grabbed hold of his bottom lip.

When Charlie got back from the hospital with stitches, the gf had wisely driven the bird to a friend's house for good.

Every time you handle one of these majestic birds and can still count all 10 digits, just remember, it's because they choose to let you keep them! :)

It never ceases to amaze me what my Umbrella can do with her beak... Her cage is a big heavy duty model and she can bend the bars on it.... And they are THICK bars.... The cam locks for the front door don't work because she bent them out of shape so I have to use a brass padlock.... I tried one of the cast aluminum 2 piece suitcase locks, she split that one in half!

Yet when she bites my ear, it's always just to tick me off and she doesn't draw blood :)

Charlie is a good bird, he never bites hard.
He bits the dog some times when she gets close enough.
It's kind of funny when he bit the dog, it's not hard, and he always ask "that hurt?"
He also says "hello" every time the phone rings.
I wouldn't trade him for anything.

Maya St. Mathews. Maya means "one who is loved" and St. Mathew is the Patron Saint of Security Guards. She was a little young in this picture, about 80lbs or so. She is a rock solid 95lbs now. I had the choice between installing a new security system in my house or importing one from Germany. ;) She is a loving family dog who will let my kids abuse her all day long while also being a ferocious defender of the house and all who dwell within. We are going to order one of her sisters when she turns 5.
