I was at the LGS the other day and found an old S&W that piqued my interest.
They took it in on trade with horrible rust pitting, etc.
They knew they couldn't sell it as-is so they decided to clean it up and Cerakote it. I kind of like the two-tone color they gave it.
You can still see the old pitting under the finish.
Mechanically it is perfect. The timing & lockup are perfect with no push off and it has no excessive endshake, etc.
Can anybody help me identify it for sure?
The serial number looks like it dates to late 1940s to early 50s according to my SCSW.
I think it's a Pre-10 but I'm honestly not sure.
It's a 5 screw with diamond magnas. The right side grip panel, barrel, and cylinder are stamped with the S/N. The S/N is C562XX.
