Congrats on the new pick-up -- an excellent basic AR.

I don't recommend going cheap on red dots -- an item where you truly get what you pay for -- but if I had to go quality econo, I'd look at Primary Arms.

I just put a Primary Arms red dot on my Sport 2. Sighted in easily, perfect co-witness, works great. I'm happy with it!

More congrats! Looks great! Bushnell TRS25 great red dot at a great price; will co-witness too!

Looks nice with the magpul stuff. I don't know why, but I love the lower on the sports, just like the looks of the built in trigger guard on it, better than my M&P15 MID..

Congratulations on your AR.

I built an M4 type CQB rifle this past summer. I didn't want to spend a lot, since I am on fixed income. I purchased a BSA multi reticle panoramic sight off eBay for about $ 30, and I am ecstatic. With this sight, I can use it without removing my iron back up sights.

Congrats on your new firearm. I couldn't wait to shoot mine first, then after getting some rounds down range I started making a few decision based mods. Happy shooting.

thanks guys
just upgraded my red dot i hated the sightmark ultra shot so i got a vortex strikerfire II based on the reviews i saw online should be much better optic.

Good choice. I had a Sightmark a few years ago. I gave it away.

Here's what my Sport II currently looks like. Magpul stock and BAD lever, quad rail forgrip with added rail section around sight post, Primary Arms optic, Crimson Trace laser (off a pistol I don't use), Hogue grip. I think I'm done. Maybe a drop in trigger someday....

Looks great, mine is set up almost the exact same way except I still have the S&W stock. I really need to swap it to a Magpul like you. Good looking rifle.

Oh, and get some rail covers for that bad boy or your hands will be sorry.

I read about a buffer tube and/or spring upgrade that eliminates the spring noise. Anyone know what that is and if it works?

More shooting, less reading! :D I've never understood the issue regarding spring noise. There is a big spring in there. As it is forced to compress, then uncompress to push the BCG forward, there will be noise.

*agrees with cyphertext*

However............I can honestly say I swapped just my spring to a Damge Industries spring and really like how it cut down sound....and I spent like $8. If you really want to spend money and hate the noise, there is also JP Enterprises that makes silent capture springs.

Forgive me cyphertext.

Sorry, I just haven't shot too many different ARs. So they all make the spring noise?

Yup. I got a Damage Inustres chrome silicon spring a year ago. Turns a grinding squeeling operation into smooth and quiet. Freind of mine just pulled back the charge handle on my AR and ordered a CS spring from DI right there and then. ;)

Yes, perfectly normal.

Normal, agreed. But some make more noise than others. My Colt fixed rifle stock spring made a lot more noise than my Sport spring. In fact, my Sport still has the stock spring because I hardly hear it, whereas my Colt I swapped it.
