My first experience with a "squib" round

..Beware wimpy rounds...because you can fill the barrel with bullets before you realize what's happening...

Not me and not my Colt. I was happy to not even be in the same county with it when I saw what happened:

A friend once handed me the remains of a box of Euro mfg .22LR target ammo and mumbled something vaguely negative about them. I tried them in my Marlin Papoose and, of course, had one lodge in the bbl, which I did not notice. The next round bulged the bbl. I later questioned him about his judgment in giving me these rounds. He became angry and claimed I wanted him to pay for a new bbl. No, I didn't, but I "lost" him as a friend on that day. My fault he had given me the defective ammo...

I also purchased 500 rounds of .38 FMJ service-style rounds at a show loaded in beautiful, new Fed cases from an area bulk loader. These would tumble at 5-7 yards and 2 bullets actually lodged partway in the muzzle of a 4" Model 64.
