Good day!

I was able to snag this locally last year from a gentleman who loves old Smiths. I was able to get it shy under $500. It's not perfect but it's got some nice character to it. I wish I knew more about it, but I don't.

Serial number - K6207xx

Assembly numbers - 04233 - With E A 4 stamped by it?

It's probably one of the finest revolvers I have shot thus far. My wife "called it", so I'm happy she likes to shoot it too.

19-2's are my favorite era of M19's. First because that is around the time I was born and second because of the little things they were still doing to these revolvers that showed the craftsmanship. They were still attaching separate sights to the barrel and not forging them all in one piece, like this pic of my 19-2's barrel.

Gee, I'm sorry to hear that.

Now it appears you're hooked like the rest of us whether you realize it or not.

Symptoms include:
- Vastly decreased bank accounts
- Disappearing space in gun safe(s)/need to purchase additional safe(s)
- Near constant perusal of gunbroker for that next addition
- Spending countless hours drooling over your copy of SCSW, discovering guns you didn't know existed - but now must own

It's tough. But you've found a solid support group here.

Remember, there's no known cure ... But many of the uncomfortable urges can be temporarily suppressed with the purchase of another fine S&W.

Hello and welcome, my name is Bumpus and I'm a Smith-aholic ;)

Also, that's an excellent way to jump in. Very nice revolver!

My lone (currently) example of that model is a little later ... 19-4

It's a 6" barrel, but it's also P&R like yours. Enjoy, they're sweet shooters.

The S&W Model 19 is a great carry piece. Designed to be shot mostly with 38 Special and 38 Special +P, carried with and shot a little with 357 Magnum rounds. Take good care of that Model 19, don't beat it to death with a steady diet of magnum loads, especially full power 110 and 125 grain loads.

Personally I think the condition is perfect and just how I like to find guns, when I'm buying.

It looks like a well cared for used gun with some wear but no abuse. The condition level makes it affordable. I would have no problem carrying that 19-2 and shooting it often; perfect.

Well done on the score of that 19-2.

I could have saved myself a heck of a lot of time and money if I had listened to an old timer I knew 30 years ago. He was a fine pistoleer and I asked him what kind of handgun I should get.
He said, "get you a pair of Combat Magnums and be done with it."
I have more than a pair of them now but a whole lot of superfluous **** too.
