Outstanding, Les! Just outstanding! Both your work accomplished as well as the targets. This project not only looks great, it works well! Pretty is as pretty does, so yours is twice pleasing! Congratulations!

Thanks, Ken!!

I am very pleased with it. I still have just a little minor tweaking left to do, but it's good to go right now. Just a little more off the rear of the barrel, it's still just a little close fit to the cylinder. A few other details, and it's done. I may fit a couple of repro .5" S&W medallions to the elk stocks...still deciding on that...

Best Regards, Les

Great job Les,

Since my background (long ago) was machining, I like good machine and assembly work. Enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Les:

What a fun thread. Thanks a ton for sharing with the rest of us!!!

Thanks, Richard!! I have enjoyed all of your engraved beauties over the years, but I'm more a "shooter" grade guy...and I remember you have a bunch of those as well... I've really enjoyed this project, though, and have enjoyed hearing advice and encouragement from all of the other guys as well.

Best Regards, Les

You should be proud. The barrel deal shouldn't be a problem. As for the medallions, well, they sure wouldn't hurt anything, but for me, I think those elk stocks are mighty fine just the way they are, especially given the style of the stocks at the top. Those really do look nice on your revolver. That's just my personal like, of course. Since that gun is uniquely yours, the grips on it ought to be uniquely yours as well!

Since that picture of my old snubby was taken, I have put a pair of PC Magna grips made for the first Model 58s that came out on it.

No sense beating up the nice pair of pre WWI service grips banging around in a holster every day.
They do make shooting a little more comfortable but they don't have quite the style that the old timers have.

Les,

Magnas and grip adapters just work.

I didn't know about grip adapters back when I got my 58 for a duty gun.
Those magnas didn't cut it with the hot rounds that were standard back then.

I destroyed the magnas for the the hardware and made a set of targets for my gun.. I couldn't afford the $12 for a set of factory targets back then.

A set of PC magnas are probably worth more than my gun now.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program.;):D

Nice gun you created Les. Just found this thread, you have lots of patience. Like Old Cop said, would be nice to see at the fall NE Ohio Bunch. Chime in on future range results as you enjoy the gun. Larry

Larry:

Thanks, I'll be sure to bring it with me if I can make it to the Fall Bunching...

Best Regards, Les
