Samething happened to me,so I called smith& wesson
and they had me send it back to them to fix.
they updated it to specs and sent it back in about a week
its perfect now, all I could tell they did was install new
extractor,and change springs to blue ones.
If it happens again I'll just order new extractor and replace it myself.

it wasnt in all the way and exploded instead of all the gases going out the barrell it came out the extractor

It's an OOB. Call s&w, they'll send you shipping lable w/ instructions. What is your s.n. category? DTU, DTZ, DTX, etc.?

My new M&P 22-15
Went to my dealer and traded a Taurus PT-1911 for a new M&P. I won't be able to get to the range for a week or two. The serial # starts with DTM. Anyone know if it's one of the with the FTF or FTE issues? Thank...I really enjoy the forum.

Mine is off to S&W for the same thing. Had it 15 days and under 1500 rounds.
What letters does the ser# start with and what ammo were you using when the extractor failed?
DTU**** and shooting Winchester bulk ammo.
Apparently, S&W started putting in the updated springs (blue springs) somewhere in the DTZnnnn serial number range. From what I have read, S/N's starting with DTZ should have the blue springs. DUA S/N's should definitely have the blue springs. Hopefully, someone else can jump in with the exact info.
For what it's worth mine is DUL with updated extractor and three blue springs. At least they were blue before I cleaned it.
Howdy, I checked mine, it's a DTH serial#. There's several issues I'm going to talking to S&W about soon, and I'll be sending it to them. It sucks because I LOVE shootin this gun...... And the wabbits are starting to come out! Has anyone had the issue that the bolt won't stay open without a mag in with out tilting the gun? It's like the charging button should be spring loaded and it's not.......Thanx guys!
