Does that 5" happen to be marked DETROIT PD on the back strap? It looks like my 1973 issued piece.

All of mine are tapered barrel if pre Model marked M&P's count.

I do have three 4" Model marked heavy barrels but they have target sights and are marked 14-2.

I only have on old model 10, a rusty old obsolete piece in a caliber that is not even considered dangerous any more.

My brother bought this 2 times at different pawn shops. At the first shop he found the 10-5 4" with a beat up barrel and a lanyard ring. A forum member gave him a 5" barrel, and another member (now passed) installed the barrel for him. He sent the gun to Birdsong for a Black-T finish. He put some stag grips on it. He later loaned it to his stepdaughter. Later he walks into a different pawn shop and there is the Model 10. He was so pissed that he almost gave it to me and I have it today. It is one of the best shooters that I own.

I shot this group with it at 15 yds. (always one damned flyer) A Six a clock hold might be better.

I really hate it when you do something nice for someone and they piss all over your effort. I don't give guns to people any longer. For that reason.
