My Model 15-3

No particular reason to post this. I was just trying out a pair of targets on my Model 15-3.
I've had this CM for about 10years. I bought it at a gunshow...I was looking for a Model 10 at the time, when this showed up, for $175.
It has been refinished...the S&W logo is "soft" from the polish.
I usually prefer PC Magna grips with a T-grip, but I do like the targets, too.

I've got Target grips on my 15-3 also, but mine aren't as pretty as yours. Never mind the re-blue. I'll bet it still shoots just fine.

I prefer targets on all of my S&W revolvers. I like the way that they look and feel. The Magnas are too small for me. I've never tried a grip adapter but that would probably give me more to hold onto.

Did model 15's come from the factory with the speed loader cut-out? My recollection as a rookie LE, they showed up around 1982

Actually, on the K frames it was about 1978 or 1979. I have a Model 14-4 that I purchased new that has Targets with the speed loader relief. It letters to July, 1980.

The target stocks on mine are not original to the revolver. They are a pair that I bought dated June 1987 and actually have the cutout on both sides. I suspect that mine came with Magna stocks originally but when I bought it in the late '90s it had a pair of Pachmayr Sgnatures on it.

Under the stocks, the frame on mine is electro-penciled "4-10-64 FWPD #52".

Yeah, I admit it, I love my Model 15...It is a great shooter, and very accurate.

That's a fine looking Model 15, refinished or not.

I'm a big fan of the Model 15. I picked this one, a -2, off a local "Gun for sale" board a couple of years ago, mostly because of the diamond target grips.

When I bought my Model 15, it had PC Magnas on it, which aren't numbered to the gun. Those are on my Pre-Model 10 right now.

The first time I shot it, I got used to it a little on paper, then moved over to the plates my club has ranging from 25 to 80yds, round 10" plates and critter silhouettes.
A club member was watching me shoot, hitting and ringing steel with every shot...
He said, "hey, that shoots pretty good...must be a Smith & Wesson..."

It's the gun that started me down the S&W road.

The 15 and the 10, but the 15 is really special.

The sweetest handgun I ever shot, revolver or automatic, was the 15-3 I bought unfired in an estate consignment.

It lives now with my son and his boys, and has given the kids a huge respect and fondness for S&W revolvers (though the oldest, at 17, is in love with 1911's).

I have a strong weakness for the CM/15/67 K-frames.
I have accumulated a Combat Masterpiece from 1953, a 15-3, and a 67 (no dash).
I currently have another 15-3 on layaway at a nearby pawn shop.
