I have been wanting a 629, pre Cinton. I got tired of looking and bought a 68 Super Blackhawk, then one came up locally for $650. SBH is good too.
I would have thought Hogue would be a better grip then wood. But I have never shot those style of wood grips.
I am a little surprised at 300grn for bears. I would have expected 240-260. But I don't really know. I carry 3.5" 44spcl with Buffalo Bore 240grn. But also want a 629.
I just started reloading. There is a cost savings on 44 rounds. Especially 44 special which is hard to find.
For practice, I would go with cowboy loads of mag. I would think they would be cheaper. Since magnum is more common. Plus people say spcls can leave carbon build up mag guns.
I would be interested in any links of carrying in bear country or loads.
