MY NEW 460

Wow, looks deadly! I shoot 45ACP, & 45LC in revolvers. That thing looks like it could punish you. I just started loading 45Colt. Ammo at gun show was $45 tax included. I can reload 45ACP for around $11 a box. Have not figured out LC yet. If you don't load, you may want to consider it. JMO. Post range results. Bob

Congratulations

Welcome to X-Frame club.

Good luck and be safe
Ruggy

p.s. It usually takes about a week for the smile to go away after the first range session.

I do reload I still need to get some brass for it but that's $63 for 100 rds

I own the 460 bone collector and am looking for a non leather holster. does anyone have one

Welcome ! I picked up the 12" XVR back in March, and LOVE it. No better way to put a HUGE grin on your face and drain your wallet. Good thing you handload the 460 eats up about 40-50 gr of powder per shot ! Judging by your forum name your already set up to easily transition to .45 cal 460 mag loads ;)

ya I got a 454. I gust got some brass for the 460 but I think I need to get some dies for it. not sure my 454 dies will work for the 460

I'm just about positive they won't completely work, because of the 460's longer casing length you will end up only partially resizing the 460 brass using 454 dies, I think the resized casings will only insert part way into the cylinder. I picked up a set of LEE pacesetter 460 dies for short money. On a side note always makes sure you crimp the 460 loads. The recoil is so severe that if you don't crimp , it's possible for the remaining rounds in the cylinder to have the bullets begin to extend out of their press fit.

I love my .460. It's one of the most interesting guns I shoot. I like the challenge of getting good with it.

If one needs to completely rid yourself of the imfamous "big caliber flinch", practice shooting a 460 XVR without flinching

I once hunted with .460 it knocks everything but me off its feet when fired. Deer slip and fall, other hunters dive for cover....

I didn't think the 454 dies would work was looking at the lee ones. will the lee dies crimp good or do you need to buy a crimp die to go with the die set

With the LEE dies , the bullet seating die is also the crimp die. You adjust both the seating depth and the strength of the crimp.
