My sigma experience

Hi to every one. I'm new to the forum and wanted to tell my experience with my new Sigma, good and bad. A friend bought one and I liked the feel of it in my hand, I have small hands, so I bought one also. I fired about 200 rds throught the gun and could not hold it on target. I felt that it was because of the stiff trigger. I am use to shooting single action 1911's. I did some work on the trigger, removed the coil spring, stoned the sear and so on. The trigger improved but not my shooting. I came to the conclusion that the stiffer trigger only showed older age, shaky hands. I traded in the Sigma for a M&P9c and love the new gun. In conlusion I can say that the Sigma was a great gun but not for me. I never had any problem with the gun and for the price you can't go wrong if the trigger is not a factor.

Im just curious, did you ever fire your friends & were you able to hit the target with it? I have no problem with you not liking the trigger. I can respect your opinion. It is the ones who lable the gun bad because they can't adapt to it that I feel don't respect my opinion! They but into others conversation to put down the weapon. I welcome input such as yours. You pointed out that you had no failures of any kind & there were no issues with the gun. It just wasn't for you. I just wish you could have figured that out before you made the purchase. My thoughts exactly. I owned a Walther P99 (pre-S&W) for a short time that was a fantastic gun, well built, and extremely comfortable in the hand. Unfortunately, I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it. I sold it to a friend who shoots it very well.

I have owned dozens of guns over the past 15 years, and that is the only gun I have had that problem with. While it would be easy for me to label the P99 as inaccurate, it simply wouldn't be true. It just wasn't accurate in my hands.

Not every gun is for everyone. That's why they make a bunch of them.

I never did get a chance to fire my friends Sigma. I think you need to fire a couple hundred rounds before you can tell if a gun is for you. As you grow older you sometimes learn leassons the hard way. I was at the range yesterday with my new M&P9c and love the gun. So far I still am happy that I made the change even if it did cost me some more money. When I buy a gun, I buy it to shoot it, not to look at and keep in a safe. If you don't like shooting it get rid of it!

When I first got my Sigma, I couldn't hit a barn with the door closed.
I kept shooting, read some good info at this forum (and a couple others), worked on my grip, stance, etc, and eventually, this thing learned to shoot.
As has been stated, the Sigma will make you a better shooter, but if your hands won't take it, they won't take it.
I'm not sure what the trigger pull is on mine, but it's really not that bad, and I've shot worse triggers.

I purchased my Sigma May the 29th!
I should reach the 1600 round fired this week end!!

I'm not much on the compacts, in fact, I hope to soon purchase a M&P9 Pro with the 5" brl!!

Actually, I would like to make it a double with a SD9 also!

....and if theree is a nice 686 at the gun show maybe I could smuggle it back into the house!!

Well they look the same anyway!!
Nice gun!!

I love the M66/19!!
But the full house magnums feel a bit smoother in the larger L-frame 686!

Or I would love to grab a N-frame 627!

PS: BTW .357 mag, I'm yet to feel a S&W revolver in my hand that I DIDN'T like!!

Oh good, I thought it was just me!
I bought a Sigma at the end of August. I liked the feel of the gun. The weight felt right & I really didn't have much of an issue with the trigger, & the price was GREAT... I just couldn't hit the target!
My gun for the last 30 years has been a S&W .357 model 19.

Even comparing the 2 at the range it's funny how I do well with the revolver but badly with the Sigma.
I just added a Crimson Trace to the Sigma. This & adjusting my grip & stance has helped a lot!

I refuse to give in. I love the Sigma. Consistent flawless firing with no jams. I just wish it had adjustable sights.

Hey guys, if you are having that much trouble hitting the bullseye with your Sigma, inspect the front sight.

There have been a couple of cases where the installation process caused the front sight to rise up a bit causing the POI to be lower than the POA.

Just a thought!!

I have a SW40VE and when I first started firing it I had accuracy problems as well. In my case, I was flinching because I thought the .40 cal round would be like a magnum and because I didn't know where in the trigger cycle the striker fired. After shooting it in IDPA several times, I got more comfortable with it and accuracy improved. Find a gun you like and feel comfortable with.

I seem to be very consistently low POI versus POA. I presumed it to be me, but that's interesting. What do I look for? I have digital calipers; what is the "correct" height of the front sight from barrel level to top of sight? I can measure tonight.
